Mike Bubel Born on August 22, 1990 Mike Bubel has lived with autism since he was two. But thanks to a supportive and involved family and a determined spirit, Mike lives a full life. Like most kids, he goes to school, likes the outdoors, and is addicted to movies. He is involved in a variety of activities including gymnastics on his backyard trampoline and bowling - a sport in which he will compete in the local Special Olympics. Mike recently discovered he had a green thumb when he planted his first garden. He attends the Metro School, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg school which is devoted to the needs of children with developmental disabilities. He will continue to learn there until he is 21. Mike may not understand fully what it means to have a foundation named for him—but he is already realizing the changes The Bubel/Aiken Foundation has made in his life.
Mike attended his first summer camp the summer of 2006 at a camp that was created based on inspiration from the Foundation. While working with Mike, Clay always wanted him to be able to go to summer camp with the other kids.
